December 26.. just one day after Christams and we are alreday on the move. We packed Santa's gifts, a bit of clothes and food and left to the South of France, heading to Saint Cyprien, a small town next to Perpignan, next to Mediterranean sea and close to the Spanish border. We rented an apartment that was almost right on the sea shore (200 meters). The weather was just great: 15 degres the whole week.
We visited Collioure, really beautiful small town on the coast. then we went to Saint Martin du Canigou, a monastery located at an altitude of 1000 meter-high and occupied by the community of Beatitudes. The monastery was made in 1009 and is really a treasure of the romane period.
We had a nice 8km-walk around Banyuls sur mer through teh vineyards that are planted according to a special agricultural way: in order to keep as much as possible soil, back in the 13 century, men erected small walls to make some terrace-like plantations. At that time, they had already invented pipelines to carry the wine from the vineyards down to the town.
On December 31st, we went to Barcelona where we visited the Park Guell and tried to visit the Sagrda Familia before 2 kids mugged Antti. They stole his wallet. teh rest of the day was spent at the police station. Nice.
On January 1st, we simply wandered in Perpignan and ended up in a coffee and ordered.. ice cream.. What else ?
